Good morning, We begin with your holiday weekend traffic outlook. Triple A is predicting record-breaking travel across New York State for Memorial Day weekend, with forty-five million Americans hitting the road. Local drivers should brace for the highest holiday pump prices in four years, with regular unleaded averaging four dollars and fifty-nine cents a gallon across Western New York. Triple A says the absolute heaviest gridlock will hit this afternoon after two p-m.Meanwhile, the Olean Common Council is fresh out of a marathon three-hour committee session addressing critical city issues. Aldermen are locked in a deep dispute with Mayor Amy Sherburne over her decision to close the Lincoln Park restrooms due to ongoing misuse. The council also pushed back heavily against a proposed five-dollar fee to use the city's new splash pad at War Veterans Park, calling the price far too high for local low-income families. And finally, if you are looking for a patriotic way to kick off the holiday weekend, the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble is hosting a completely free Memorial Day concert tomorrow night at eight p-m at the Arkport Central School Performing Arts Center, featuring live military pageantry and a veteran pinning ceremony. For more news from across the region, download the radioNOVO app. I’m Codi Gaboff, radioNOVO News, a service of Seven Mountains Media.
